They had arrived at the hotel an hour and half earlier after a five-hour flight from BWI. They were spending a long weekend in Las Vegas, staying at a nice resort off the strip. They were planning on doing some gambling and maybe taking in a show, but they mainly wanted to laze by the pool and relax. "Step on it," Ralph teased, "I'm hungry. Giving him a friendly huff, Cindy grabbed her wrap and they walked out of the room and headed down the hall to the elevator.
The restaurant at the resort was purported to be excellent. Unfortunately, Ralph had not thought about making reservations before leaving on their trip and the line at the hostess desk was long. "Two for dinner," Ralph said to the attractive young hostess. "Certainly sir, but it will be about an hour's wait," came the reply. Ralph turned to Cindy and asked if she wanted to wait. "I'm famished," she said, "but am not in the mood to drive anywhere after that long plane trip."
"Excuse me." Ralph and Cindy turned to see a very nice-looking man dressed in what were clearly expensive albeit casual clothes. "Hi, my name is Tennyson Charles Wynters - my friends call me TC. I don't mean to eavesdrop, but I heard you talking and am wondering if you would like to join me. I am sure Marie can find a table of three for me."
Cindy subtly looked the man up and down. His clothes were impeccable and the Rolex on his wrist was outclassed only by the large diamond ring on his right-hand ring finger; a plain gold wedding band was evident on his left-hand ring finger. He appeared to be in his mid-40s (later, she would learn he was 56 but except for the first beginnings of a middle-aged spread around his waist, he obviously took good care of his very nice body. His temples had a hint of silver giving him a look of distinction. His steel-blue eyes looked luminescent against his tanned face. Cindy quickly averted her eyes when he glanced her way.
"Well, if you're sure it's not an imposition,' said Ralph, "we accept your offer. He looked at Cindy to make sure she didn't disagree and she gave him a slight nod.
"Marie," said TC, "can you change my reservation from a table for one to a table for three?" "No sooner asked than done," she replied giving him her best smile. "Please follow me."
